However much or little you know about labor right now, here's the truth: most childbirth classes teach you facts — not what to do when things get real.
At Queen City Doulas, we've supported hundreds of Charlotte-area families through labor, delivery, and those first wild days postpartum.
Our two-session evidence-based birth prep class is designed for pregnant women, partners, and support people as you prepare for labor, birth, and welcoming your newborn baby.
Charlotte birth prep classes
your go-to guide to prepare for birth
Taught by Suzanne Wentworth, RN, MPH. With over 25 years at the bedside with laboring and postpartum families, Suzanne knows exactly what catches new parents off guard — and exactly what helps.
SESSION 1: Understanding Labor
The anatomy and four phases of labor — early, active, transition, and pushing — and what you'll experience emotionally and physically in each one. You'll learn the PMS framework (Pee, Move, Soften) and labor positions suited to each phase, plus how knowledge and relaxation work together to break the fear-tension-pain cycle.
SESSION 1: Managing Labor & Postpartum
What to expect during transition, pushing, and delivery — and how your partner can support you through it. You'll learn pain management options and the BRAIN decision framework for working through choices in the moment, along with breathing and massage techniques you can use anytime. We'll also cover physical and emotional postpartum recovery, and how to know when it's time to ask for help.
WHEN: Monday, July 13 & 20 | 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
LOCATION: The Grove CLT
1043 Providence Rd, Charlotte, NC 28207
INVESTMENT: $300 for both sessions
