Katie was truly one of the best decisions we made for our birth experience. ❤️ Going into pregnancy, I honestly thought I might end up needing a C-section because of some medical concerns. Then, around 32 weeks, we found out that a vaginal birth would actually be the best option. The problem was…I had done absolutely NO preparation for birth. 😂 I knew that trying to make a detailed birth plan and thinking through every possible scenario would only make my anxiety worse, so I decided that if I was going to have a doula, I wanted someone who could just *vibe* with us, keep things calm, and be the knowledgeable person in the room so I didn’t have to overthink everything. Then we met Katie, and it was an instant match. Before birth, Katie came to meet with us and walked us through all the different things we could expect and the different ways labor and delivery could go. My husband was especially grateful because she helped us have some sort of plan and understanding of what we were walking into without making us feel overwhelmed. We loved her personality, her sense of humor, and how easy it was to laugh, talk, and just be ourselves around her. Leading up to the birth, I could text Katie with any random thought or question, and she always checked in on us. When I went past my due date, she was such a comfort and helped keep me calm during the waiting and uncertainty. When my water started to break, Katie was there for me over the phone, helping me stay calm and talking me through what was happening. She even stayed available when the doctors came in so we could process everything together. When things really started ramping up, she came to the hospital, and having her there was an ENORMOUS relief to me, my husband, and my entire family. My labor became absolutely insane. I had incredibly intense contractions that felt like they would never stop, and Katie was such a steady presence. She didn't just support me — she helped guide my husband and my family in how they could support me too. She knew what I needed when I couldn't even think clearly enough to say it. I went from a 4 to a 10 incredibly quickly, and suddenly it was time to push. Katie was right there guiding me through it. She even called my family back to the hospital in the middle of the night so they could be there. In the middle of all the chaos, I remember focusing on Katie's voice and listening to her guide me through everything. I wasn't scared because she was there. I will forever remember her counting me through pushing and talking me through every moment. I truly don't think I could have stayed as calm as I did or gotten through that experience the way I did without her. And she didn't disappear once my baby was born. ❤️ I was able to continue texting Katie with questions afterward, and when my baby suddenly stopped latching, she came to our house and helped us figure out how to get her latched again. There have been plenty of moments since birth where I've been completely overwhelmed or panicked about something — including a few random postpartum scares where I was freaking out — and just knowing that I could text or call Katie has given us so much comfort and peace of mind. She supported me, my husband, and my entire family through one of the biggest and most emotional experiences of our lives. My whole family loved her, and I completely understand why. If you're considering a doula, especially if you're someone who tends to overthink, gets anxious, or doesn't want to spend your pregnancy obsessing over a perfect birth plan, I cannot recommend Katie enough. She was exactly what I needed: knowledgeable, calm, supportive, funny, reassuring, and completely in our corner. Katie, thank you for helping make one of the most intense experiences of our lives feel safe, supported, and even fun at times. I will never forget hearing your voice guiding me through those final moments. We are so incredibly grateful we found you. ❤️

I would highly recommend Queen City Doulas! Kaitlyn was so nice and listened to what I was looking for in a doula. She suggested Kimmi as a good fit for me and she was right! Kimmi was very helpful and made my experience in the hospital much more comfortable and smooth. She was great with my 2 year old who came to visit and she took great care of my newborn! My 2 year old is still talking about her! I would definitely recommend Kimmi and Queen City Doulas if you are looking for a positive hospital experience!

If you are considering hiring a post partum doula, DO IT. The support I received from Erin after having my son while recovering from a second c-section was amazing. She would arrive and jump right in to help with whatever needed to be done. Dishes, laundry, helping with our other child, you name it she did it. I struggled in the beginning with getting my son to latch correctly and she was right there to help and offer some tips/support. Erin is an absolute gem and huge asset to the Queen City Doulas staff!
