A night nanny specializes in newborn care, particularly for infants 0-6 months old. They do not have formal certifications but are knowledgable about common newborn issues such as sleep schedules, reflux, colic, and more. They are also knowledgeable on baby gear, pumping equipment, and basics of postpartum maternal support.

A newborn care specialist is a trained professional dedicated to the specialized care of newborns. They possess extensive knowledge and experience in various aspects of newborn care, including infant development, feeding techniques, soothing methods, sleep training, and basic health care for infants. Their expertise ensures your baby receives the best possible care during those crucial early weeks.

What is a night nurse?

"Night nurse" is often used informally to describe overnight newborn care. At Queen City Doulas, a night nurse is a licensed nurse who cares for infants overnight.

To become an licensed nurse, individuals complete a nursing program and pass National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to obtain licensure or registration to practice nursing in their state or jurisdiction. Night nurses bring a high level of medical expertise to the care of your baby.

Kaitlyn, a Registered Nurse and Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, brings a wealth of knowledge to postpartum care. She earned her Bachelor's in Nursing from the University of Virginia and her Master's in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. Kaitlyn practices part-time as a pediatric nurse practitioner and deeply understands both the clinical and emotional aspects of the postpartum period.

As a mother of two active boys, she knows the early parenthood challenges. Her own positive experiences with postpartum support inspired her to found Queen City Doulas, extending personalized, compassionate care to other families. With her medical expertise and nurturing instincts, Kaitlyn ensures Queen City Doulas remains a reliable resource for families navigating their postpartum journey.

With over 25 years of experience as a mother-baby nurse and a former nursing instructor at the University of Virginia, she brings a wealth of knowledge. She specializes as a lactation consultant and newborn care specialist.

Suzanne provides expert, compassionate breastfeeding and postpartum support, blending clinical expertise with deep empathy. Her calming presence and wisdom are invaluable in ensuring Queen City Doulas remains a reliable and nurturing resource for families during this significant life stage.
