How to Make New Mom Friends in Charlotte
Are you a new mom in Charlotte, North Carolina and looking to connect with other moms? Perhaps you’re new to the area or you’ve been here your whole life but want to meet mom friends with kids the same age as yours? Either way, this guide is crafted just for you! Building your mom village in Charlotte is easier than you might think. Here are some of my favorite ways to meet new mom friends in Charlotte.
Explore Mom and Me Meetups in Charlotte
I started by attending “Mom and Me” meetups hosted by Mind Body Baby. These meetups occur in various local parks and spaces around Charlotte, such as the Center for Jewish Education library on Providence Road. This is a fantastic starting point as everyone attending has recently had a baby and is in the same situation as you. Remember to bring a smile and an open attitude to these gatherings—it can make all the difference. You can find a new mom meet-up using their “Mom and Me” calendar here.
Children’s Story Times at Your Local Charlotte Public Library
Another excellent way to meet mom friends is at your local Charlotte public library during story time. Check out the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library website and search for story times tailored to your child’s age group. They offer sessions for babies, toddlers, and families. While their website might be tricky to navigate, a quick visit in person can get you a monthly schedule of all story times. I met some of my best mom friends at these events! Plus, you discover all sorts of wonderful new books to bring home and share with your children. Often after story time events, new moms will get together for coffee or a walk.
Attend Charlotte Breastfeeding Support Groups
If you’re breastfeeding, the La Leche League is an invaluable local resource. They host meetups throughout North and South Carolina. You can visit the La Leche League website to find a meeting near Charlotte, NC or message me directly, and I’ll guide you to connect with a local leader.
Just Get Out There! You may just meet your new best mom friend today.
My first outing postpartum in Charlotte was a Mind Body Baby meetup at Park Road Park, and although it was daunting, it was incredibly rewarding. I encourage you to put yourself out there, no matter how challenging it might seem. Building a community is essential for your mental health and well-being, especially when raising children.
