Pregnancy Superfoods

Introducing superfoods into your pregnancy can have incredible benefits for both you and your growing baby! Packed with healthy fats, amino acids, folate, and an abundance of essential vitamins and minerals, these foods help meet your body’s needs during this transformative time. As you nurture new life, focusing on what you eat is key to supporting healthy fetal development and maintaining your energy levels.

While the term “superfoods” has gained popularity, I hesitate to use it here, as it’s often associated with highly processed supplement powders that stray far from what I consider a true food category. Instead, this guide focuses on nutrient-rich, whole foods—particularly animal-based options—that were prized by traditional cultures as the foundation of a healthy pregnancy. Sadly, much of this ancestral wisdom, passed down for generations, has been lost in modern times.

These “superfoods” might surprise you! When it comes to pregnancy nutrition, simplicity, and tradition often hold the key to the nutrients you need. But remember, pregnancy comes with its challenges, and sometimes nourishing yourself can feel overwhelming—especially during the first trimester. If you’re surviving on saltine crackers and salt and vinegar chips some days, give yourself grace. Focus on incorporating these nutrient-rich foods whenever you feel able, and trust that every effort you make counts. Your body knows what it is doing.

Here’s a list of some amazing foods to consider and creative ideas for bringing them into your daily routine!
