Support Groups and Resources for Charlotte Mothers of Multiples
If you’re expecting twins (or are already knee-deep in double diapers, double feedings, and half the sleep right now), please know this: you are doing something extraordinary! Parenting multiples comes with double (or triple, or more!) the love, but… that means it comes with double the questions and triple the pressure to keep up. And you don’t have to do it alone—there’s a strong and growing community of Charlotte mothers of multiples ready to support you!
At Queen City Doulas, we’ve had the privilege of working with many families of multiples, and we’ve seen firsthand just how valuable the right support can be. From sleep help and feeding guidance to simple reassurance that you’re doing a great job, you deserve an actual village that gets it—because raising multiples comes with unique challenges and incredible rewards.
This guide is here to point you toward local support groups, helpful resources, and ideas for building your own circle of care in Charlotte.
Why Support for Parents of Multiples Is So Important
The needs of families with multiples often go beyond standard postpartum resources. With more babies come more feeding sessions, more diapers, more sleepless nights… and often, more logistical and emotional complexity.
It’s not uncommon for parents of multiples to feel:
- Stretched thin physically, emotionally, and mentally
- Unsure of how to divide their attention and care between children/babies
- Overwhelmed by feeding schedules, especially if nursing or pumping
- Isolated or misunderstood by well-meaning family and friends
That’s why connecting with others who understand your experience is so important. Whether it’s a support group, a local meetup, or a postpartum doula who’s walked this road with other families before, finding the right support can make your journey feel lighter… and so much more joyful.
Local Support Groups and Resources for Charlotte Mothers of Multiples
If you’re looking to meet other families, share tips, and feel understood, here are a few community spaces and services worth exploring:
Charlotte Mothers of Multiples (CMOMs)
One of the largest and most active groups for parents of twins and higher-order multiples in the area, CMOMs offers:
- Peer-led support groups
- New parent outreach
- Clothing and gear swaps
- Playgroups and seasonal family events
- Access to a private Facebook group for advice and camaraderie
This is a great place to start if you’re looking to connect with people who truly get it.
Hospital-Based Multiples Programs
Some local hospitals offer support groups or classes for parents expecting twins or triplets. These programs often include guidance on:
- Preparing for a multiples delivery
- Feeding and sleep strategies
- What to expect in the NICU (if needed)
- Mental health support for parents
It’s worth asking your OB, pediatrician, or hospital if any of these are available during or after pregnancy.
Social Media & Online Communities
While in-person connection is ideal, online groups can be just as much of a lifeline in the early weeks. There are several Charlotte-based Facebook groups for twin parents that offer:
- Real-time advice from parents who’ve been there and might know what you’re going through
- Recommendations for local pediatricians, sleep consultants, lactation support, and other support
- Emotional encouragement on those tough days when you might just feel like nothing you’re trying is working
Sometimes, just simply knowing you’re not the only one juggling two or more crying babies in the middle of the night is enough to get through the day. These kinds of support spaces aren’t only perfect for sharing tips. They’re also where new friendships (and much-needed lifelines) begin.
What Type of Support Should You Look For?
Every family is different, but most parents of multiples find value in resources that help them:
- Feel less alone: Connection with other parents makes a huge difference.
- Learn practical skills: Feeding two babies (or more!) is a steep learning curve.
- Build a flexible routine: With multiples, structure matters, of course… but flexibility matters more.
- Find a rhythm that works for their unique family: Not every piece of advice you’re given will fit, and that’s perfectly okay!
Whether it’s a 1:1 support call, a postpartum doula, or just someone to share a “you’re not alone” text with at 3am, you’ve gotta trust that help is out there—and it’s so much more than okay to ask for it. (In fact, you deserve it!)
How Postpartum Doulas Support Families of Multiples
Multiples often mean more questions, more moving pieces, and, unfortunately, less time for recovery. Postpartum doulas can be a huge support system during this intense but beautiful chapter. Here’s what I mean:
- Feeding Support: Feeding multiple babies can become a bit complicated, stressful, and overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time as a new parent of multiples—or a new parent altogether. Whether nursing, pumping, or bottle-feeding (or all three; you go, mom!), doulas can help you figure out a plan that works for you.
- Sleep & Soothing Strategies: After delivering your newest bundles of joy, you’ll need a lot of rest and support so that you can be there for them when they most need you. PP doulas can help you get some rest while tending to your babies overnight or show you calming techniques that work for more than one baby.
- Emotional Support: After birth, you’re not just caring for your babies—you’re recovering, adjusting, and navigating a whole new dynamic in all aspects of the word. We’re here to check in on you, too, and make sure you’re nurtured, cared for, rested, and confident.
- Practical Help: When you’ve just brought multiple babies into the world, it’s safe (and totally understandable) to say that your mind will be far from anything other than making sure your little bundles of joy are happy, safe, and sound. And doulas can even help you around the house when you need it. We can assist you with some light chores, organizing the nursery, managing visitors—every little bit helps (and seriously counts).
One family we worked with, in particular, had preemie twins who were feeding around the clock—and trying to recover from an unexpected C-section.
Just having someone there to fold laundry, wash bottles, and reassure them they were doing a great job? They said it gave them space to just be able to breathe again and that having a consistent, calm presence when everything else in their lives at that point in time felt like a complete whirlwind was something they’d forever cherish.
You Weren’t Meant to Do This Alone
Whether you’re still preparing for your babies’ arrival or you’re deep in the newborn stage, please know this: you’re doing something amazing here!
You might feel like you should be able to do it all. But in all honesty… raising multiples is a massive job, and asking for help isn’t a weakness—it’s one of the smartest things you can do for your babies AND yourself.

Whether you’re expecting, adjusting as is, or still shoulders-deep in the newborn fog, you need to remember that you’re doing an amazing job! And if you need someone to step in with care, calm, and hands-on help to give you some breathing room, we’re here with support exactly when and how you need it.
